What counts as a dental emergency?

If you have any of these signs, call us — the sooner we assess you, the more treatment options you tend to have.

Severe toothache

Pain that does not settle with painkillers, stops you sleeping or eating, or comes on suddenly.

Trauma or a broken tooth

A knock, a fractured tooth or a tooth that has come out completely (avulsion). Act quickly.

Swelling or abscess

Swelling of the gum or face, with or without pus. This can signal an infection best treated early.

Bleeding that will not stop

Bleeding from the gum or after an extraction that does not ease with a few minutes of pressure.

Lost crown, veneer or filling

A crown, veneer or filling has come loose, or a prosthesis has broken.

Wisdom-tooth pain

Pain, swelling or difficulty opening your mouth due to a wisdom tooth (pericoronitis).

What to do while you make your way to us

  • Knocked-out tooth: hold it by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently without scrubbing, and if you can, place it back in its socket. If not, keep it in milk or your own saliva and come straight away — time matters.
  • Pain: you can take your usual painkiller following the packet instructions. Do not place aspirin directly on the gum.
  • Swelling: apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek in short intervals. Do not apply heat.
  • Lost crown or veneer: keep it and bring it with you; do not try to glue it back with household adhesives.
  • Bleeding: bite gently on a clean gauze pad for a few minutes.

If you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, or fast-spreading facial swelling, do not wait — call 112 (the EU emergency number).

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about dental emergencies.

Yes — we see emergencies the same day whenever possible within our opening hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00–20:00). Call +34 914 47 62 25 and we will give you the earliest appointment.

Hold it by the crown, not the root, and avoid scrubbing it. If you can, place it back in the socket; if not, keep it in milk or your saliva and come as soon as possible. Re-implanting a tooth is more likely the sooner it is done.

The cost depends on what your case needs, so we do not publish a fixed figure. We assess you first, explain what is happening and give you a clear, no-obligation quote before any treatment.

It is best to call ahead on +34 914 47 62 25 or message us on WhatsApp so we can organise your visit and keep waiting to a minimum.

Swelling of the gum or face can signal an infection worth assessing promptly. Call us so we can see you; if you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, call 112.
